Closing Day

Well we have made it. It's closing day. My realtor texted me this morning and asked, "Are you excited or over it?"... I answered, if I could be both, that's where I am. We were suppossed to close a week ago but you homeowners know how it goes, you are at the mercy of the WHOLE machine and things happen last minute you don't anticipate. But here we are...

It's kind of anti-climatic too because we aren't getting the keys to our new, lovely, ready to move-in home. It's once again a work in progress but it's the only way I know. Like I said in my last post, I couldn't imagine just "moving in" and being satisfied in any home...there will always be changes I'll make I'm sure.

We have to have the house in move-in condition by October 23rd. That's when our current 6 month lease is up. We will start this Saturday ripping old carpet up and ripping out the base boards. Once again, I will be documenting it all with Pics and descriptions. Are you excited??!!

I am having a hard time though because I am ready to decorate a house that is not done...Beer me strentgh.

Until then...enjoy my "favorite blog of the week" Fav Blog

ps. Vanilla Ice is a designer now and is having a video contest for him to come redo a room in your home...those of you who know me, know I will be taking a stab at this. Who would not want to work with Vanilla Ice on a house project. To him I say: "To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal, light up the stage and wax a chump like a candle".

Why Franklin Tennessee for our next Reno...

I have come to the conclusion I was born in the wrong era. I should have been born around 1925 so I could be in my twenties by 1945. I would then get to wear the fabulous clothes and go to the smokey bars with piano's playing and red lipstick a-blazing! Downtown Franklin reminds me of that time for some reason. It is filled with historical buildings, character and charm that make me so so happy. Exhibit A

Franklin is about 20 minutes from Nashville but feels forever away. I discovered it about 6 months after I moved to Nashville, would later work at a couple of fabulous places on these streets and now will be renovating a house about 7 blocks away = HAPPY LAUREN.

I have looked for a house around the cottage lined streets of Franklin for 2 1/2 years now. I knew I would renovate when I ultimately found one (because the houses I love that are already done and I would make my forever home are about $800,000 and not in the budget yet).  Exhibit B:

So, this will not be our long-term home but it will be so much fun for the time being. It's walking distance to the square so while we are there...we will enjoy that. eeeek! I am looking forward to making this home something someone walks in and says, "I have to have it"!

Love,
Lauren

But it's Our Dump!

Spencer and I are buying our first home (together). We've both bought homes on our own, redone them and sold them, but this is the first we have attempted as a team. We are not doing this solely on our own..no, no...that would take longer than I would like. I AM NOT PATIENT when it comes to renovating spaces.

We are going to be joined by my parents on this project. They jumped at the idea and I am excited, well I'm nervous about all the togetherness, but I am excited too!
We close next week and I will be blogging about the before and afters of this project, complete with the funny antics that go on during the process. Ill introduce everyone that helps! This house is for sure, right now, a diamond in the rough...can you see it?
